Greek Fashion Designers on Etsy: Relogyyy, by Giota Kaiopoulou

There is more to fashion design than the runways of Milan, Paris, London and New York. Especially interesting is the search for new talents, that are showing potential, presenting collections with a trademark personality.

Amoronia is very pleased to present a talented Greek designer in this post, whose work immediately shows how much potential she has. Giota Kaiopoulou is also selling her work on Etsy, addressing the international market, and I must add that she is an active member of the Etsy Greek Street Team and Team Eco Etsy.

Relogyyy in her own words:

Re*logyyy is an Eco Conscious Handmade Fashion Label of Womenswear & Accessories, designed by the awarded fashion designer Giota Kaiopoulou.

RE*logyyy is based on RE*- cycling materials like second hand, stock & leftovers from the fashion industry. Giota reuses treasures of fashion in order to be ethical and arty too... but quality is the main goal!

The summer collection for 2011 is called Platonic Solids and it is an alternative womenswear collection based on silk and cotton viscose jersey materials. Fabrics are stock and leftovers from the fashion industry. The main inspiration for this collection comes from the Platonic solids and the substances they used to symbolize in the Pythagorean ages: Air, water, earth, and fire.

Giota tried to visualize them with water-based pastel colors for silk and she drew by hand a fluid wearable aquarelle, shapes like smoke or air and water whirls emerging from white silks in pastel grey, pink, turquoise, yellow and orange colors. Jerseys are more geometrical in pattern and you can wear them everyday. It's a collection for alternative people of all ages who like to be unique. All pieces are handmade and some of them one of a kind.

Giota Kaiopoulou has worked for several years in the fashion industry, but ethics and fashion wastes were always her concern. As a new fashion designer she participated in the 13th Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean in Puglia, Italy, in 2007 with her fashion project Origami Flowers. Prior to that, she was given several local awards for presenting complete and innovative fashion work - CLOTEFI (ETAKEI).
