Beware the Ides of March

The Ides of March is the name of 15 March in the Roman calendar, probably referring to the day of the full moon. It was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and so a military parade was usually held. The Ides of March is best known as the date on which Julius Caesar was killed in 44 B.C. He was stabbed to death in the Theatre of Pompey by a group of conspirators.
