The Lena Horne Legacy ID Bracelets

As you all know, I truly cherish Lena Horne and have already created a necklace and earrings with 'I'm me and I'm like nobody else'. Yesterday I felt the time had come for me to start a new line, that of ID bracelets. Here's what I have made so far:

The first one was done with white opal and strawberry pink quartz, and it was created for the current EGST challenge, and the second one was done with green aventurine and black glass beads. I really love the way they turned out!

The Lena Horne Legacy Necklace, Swarovski and Brass

The necklace you have all been waiting for! I get so many requests for a Lena Horne Legacy necklace, because many people do not have pierced ears, so... here it is!

I believe this will make you feel special, like all Amoronia pieces. Enjoy!

The Lena Horne Legacy Earrings

‘My identity is very clear to me now. I am a black woman, I’m not alone, I’m free. I no longer have to be a credit, I don’t have to be a symbol to anybody, I don’t have to be a first to anybody. I don’t have to be an imitation of a white woman that Hollywood sort of hoped I’d become. I’m me, and I’m like nobody else.’
(Lena Horne)

'I 'm me, and I'm like nobody else'.
I felt I had to make this into a piece of jewelry, so this pair of earrings was the result. And what better thing to accompany this post, than 'It's not easy being green', the lyrics of the song written by Joe Raposo for Sesame Street, where Lena Horne sings with Kermit the Frog:

It's not easy being green
Having to live each day the color of the leaves
When I think it would be so much nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that

No, it's not so easy being green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people? They tend to pass you over 'cause you're
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or like stars in the sky

But green is the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean, or important
Like a river, or tall like a tree

But, when green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why; oh! Why wonder?
I 'm green and it 'll do fine, it's beautiful
And I think it's what I want to be

Goodbye Lena

I don't know about you, but Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) was my absolute, most favorite icon. Words are only too poor to describe the size of that woman, whom I deeply admired and loved... Known for her involvement in many social and political organizations, with an unsurpassed class, talent and beauty, in the perfect and complete sense of the word, she didn't fit into stereotypes and inspired countless people with her life and example.

Ms. Horne: I know it's strange, but... I even cried a little when I heard you passed away. I know you will be singing with the angels up above, but still... I will miss you, Lady Lena. You will always be you, and you will be like nobody else.
