Cactus Loves Hot Weather
Contrary to humans, who usually find intense heat rather annoying to say the least, cacti plants seem to love it!
Here's the evidence:

This little beauty started as an unhappy, baby indoor cactus that a friend gave me three years ago, because she didn't know what to do with it (!), and quite frankly, it didn't seem to be alive. I placed it on my balcony, and gave it a little water and plenty of light. And now, three years later, it has grown more than 5 times its previous size and is in bloom!!!
Once again, nature shows its beauty...

Edible Gardening: Red Tomatoes
I am so so happy today! These are three of my tomatoes, can't wait to make them into a salad... They smell so wonderful, too... I wish I could share that with you all...

It feels great to see those grow from simple seeds, from that old Greek variety which was primarily in use before the 1950s.

Snorkeling in Greece - Blue Green OOAK Earrings, Swarovski and Antique Brass
Listed today in my Etsy shop, these earrings were inspired by the charming activity of snorkeling, quite popular in Greece.

I made them with sapphire blue Swarovski crystal beads and vintage book illustrations, which I cut in shapes that would match my theme. Detail: I left some bubbles in the resin on purpose, because what is snorkeling without bubbles?

This is a one of a kind pair of earrings! Not even the two of them are completely the same! I just love the way they turned out :)

A Tree In Fragments
I saw this particular platanus (plane tree) in Olympia, a little village which is a 10 minute walk from the ancient site and the museums. There are plane trees everywhere in the area. They say that the site inspires a feeling of peace and calm to the visitor, and I think it starts by seeing all those imposing trees... The first photo shows the top part where the branches of two nearby trees touch each other, in a sort of embrace...

And the last photo, where all this is finally rooted in the soil, gives a sense of satisfaction, a feeling of security, and sends a message of hope. At least, as I see it.

Edible Gardening

I am so happy today! I planted some basil seeds, which I had been saving from my old plants since September.
I also saw that my tomato plants are doing well, and it seems I will have to plant them outside in the garden next week or so. The seeds I used for these tomato plants are from an old Greek variety that was widely used before the 1950s, famously tasty and aromatic.
This Sunday I will also bring home seeds from a special variety of tomatoes, grown in Santorini (just remember how delicious their sun-dried tomatoes are!), and seeds from the wonderful, authentic and famous Greek aubergine variety, excellent for moussaka, called Tsakoniki -from the area of Leonidio, in the Tsakonian region of Greece.
Yummy!

Prague, Spring
Those of you who have been in Prague will probably agree with me when I say that this is a place you somehow want to keep coming back to. I am so happy and grateful for some special treats I had this time I went there: dry weather, coldish yet OK temperature for a Greek gal like me, and even glorious sunshine! Aaaaaah!!!

Don't you just love the invincible power of spring?
