Greek Cars and Seventies Cool
I found it hard to believe at first, but Greece actually produced cars in the past. One of them was the Enfield Neorion Ε8000, which was produced on the island of Syros, since the company was owned by the brothers Goulandris as of 1972. This type of car ran on batteries, but the price was high and it never got permission for production in Greece, which is why only a few cars were made, bought by the British Post.
I don't know why, but I feel strangely attracted to the design of this vehicle. Its compact shape, the colours I see in the pictures, its clean and honest look, even knowing that it was an electric car - all these facts make me long for the seventies, all of a sudden...
And when I think of the 1970s, a lot of things come to mind...
It would be so nice to go on a small trip right now...

Yellow and Purple Earrings, my EST Challenge Entry

To make these retro funky lovelies, I used some huge, wonderfully textured vintage buttons, hollow at the back, and complemented them with small, smooth and plain imitation mother of pearl purple lilac vintage buttons. Ready for those summer parties!

Colorful Spring Shoes
Those of you who have read my Start Wearing Flats post will know that I am against high heels. And now is the time to prove my point even more, that you can be sexy and feminine without wearing high heels. Actually, I think mid heels are the best for looks, and I'm so happy they are trendy this spring (and I definitely do not agree with the writer of that article, that kitten heels are the ugly sister of the heels family! If they were, they wouldn't be the shoes women wore in the '50s and '60s, which epitomized elegance, grace and classic beauty). Combined with the current bold color trend, the following pairs are indeed some awesome finds!

I made these earrings on a Thursday, so I called them that... It took me a while to match the vintage little buttons, but I'm happy with the way the pairs turned out. They are very stylish and very flattering on.

Glamour Earrings for the Holiday Season
I found a few vintage chandelier octagon prisms and grabbed them! This is the first pair of earrings I made, and I was listening to Loreena McKennitt's winter garden while I was making them, so it seemed only natural to include the cd cover in my photos...
They have an incredible sparkle, which was very hard to capture with my camera, but hopefully those pomegranates on the cover will make them more visible to you. Here they are:

Oh, and I'm also glad that the weather today is different, we had 9 degrees Centigrade in the morning when I woke up. Cool!

Start Wearing Flats
I recently read an article by The Guardian's fashion writer Hadley Freeman -and I quite enjoyed it, to be honest. In it she urged women to ditch high heels, and I couldn't agree with her more. So now you know I am not a fan.
But I haven't been brave enough not to wear them altogether in my life, either. High heels, I mean, not your average two or even three inches. It has been particularly hard for me to withstand peer pressure, media pressure, celebrities pressure, fashion industry pressure and so on and so forth. High heels are considered a symbol of femininity, which I find a terribly sexist idea, unfortunately endorsed by countless people. It seems there is an orchestrated effort to convince us all that this is the norm and in reality, keep us from living life to the fullest.
I believe it's pressure that actually makes us do things that we would not do otherwise, and wearing high heels is one of them. I don't remember ever feeling sexy or cool wearing high heels for more than ten minutes; quite the contrary, I have felt way too tired to do anything, completely incapable of having fun, and certainly not confident, since admitting to not be feeling good in high heels is like admitting to not being female at all!
So I decided to speak my mind loudly on this matter from now on, and this post is only the beginning. No more four or five inch heels at work or even in parties! Besides, the higher they get, the trashier they look, am I right, or am I right?
