AW11 Fashion Trend Report: Victorian Charm

To understand this trend, and why suddenly all things old are cool, we need to think of how timeless the Victorian appeal is. Placing an emphasis on the waistline, incorporating peplums, shoes with lacing and high neck or pleated collars, flirting with solemn, mourning royal looks and colors or steampunk, using lace, leather and feathers, fashion designers drew inspiration from Queen Victoria, the monarch that reigned the longest in British history, and became a national icon.

The reason I can't get my eyes off these earrings is that they are so feminine, but also carry this edgy element, because of the unusual assemblage of the lacy frames with the vintage jewels, which is just irresistibly attractive. What do you think? I have made two pairs, one with clear jewels and one with pale pink / rose quartz colored jewels. Coming soon...

Victorian Rocker Leather Cuff

I love the Victorian and the rocker trend this season! I had saved this piece of fabric with black rhinestones embroidered on it for when the inspiration would be right, and a few days ago, eureka! I combined it with a grey leather part from an old handbag which had not been used at all, and connected the ends with chain. The cuff fastens with two magnetic clasps, if you pull the chains enough for the magnets to come close. I have to say, it is one of my favorite creations, and it's one of a kind!
