Fairytale Bohemian Necklaces

If you follow this blog, you already know how much I love fairy tales. I made these one of a kind necklaces the other day, using hand-dyed silk cord, which adds a luxurious element, and semi precious stones, which are very bohemian... Plus the images are amazing, the Rapunzel illustration was made a very long time ago by an anonymous illustrator, and the Mermaid is of course a painting by Waterhouse, whose body of work I cherish.

I just love how rich the agate stones are! And there is also bloodstone, rutilated quartz, tiger eye, jasper. Magical...

Inspired Round Stud Earrings

In this post I'm going to show you the new earrings I made. They are round studs, and I'd say they are quite inspired. But feel free to show me your favorite round studs as well, link to something you really like in your comments!

OK... I named the first pair 'A Chinese Story', because these earrings were made with scraps of paper from an old admission ticket to the Imperial Treasures of China, at the National Gallery in Athens, Greece, back from 2004.

The second pair I called 'Tea in Translation', and this is why: From the famous Caffè Florian in Venice I obtained a brochure, and the Japanese translation on a red background was so appealing I thought I should make it into earrings!

What do you think? I'll be happy to hear you like them, but I'll also be happy to see other pairs that might be your favorite!

Night in Morocco, Carpet Necklace with Bamboo and Antique Copper

And just when I was preparing myself for more 'Lazing' blog posts, with relaxing photos of the beaches I have been visiting during my holidays, I received an email from Evelyn, of creationsbyeve, that she is currently the host of the EST weekly challenge, and she has picked the theme 'Morocco'.

The idea for a carpet necklace is not new to me; I had made a modern carpet neckace, thinking of Aladdin in the modern times last year. But Eve's theme was a chance for me to develop that idea. Carpets are soft, sensuous, inviting you to walk barefoot on them, they dress your home all year round, they lend incredibly beautiful decoration with their patterns, and on top of that, handmade carpets are one of a kind. So if you can't afford a real handmade, one of a kind, artisan carpet, you might want a carpet necklace!

This necklace is only the beginning... More carpet one of a kinds will come soon in my Etsy shop. Stay tuned...
