Romantic Lace and Flowers Earrings

Before I present to you my new pair of earrings, I have to tell you one thing: Lace is all over the place this season. Read any magazine, and it's there. Lace dresses, shrugs, collars, tights, lace in shoes and, oh! -lace in earrings!

So, when L' Accent Nou came up with the theme 'Antarctica' for the EST challenge, I thought about all things white (like... snowflakes!) and then decided to dig up my drawer and make a pair of earrings using some of my vintage white cotton lace, which I had bought at a thrift store a few years back...

I also used transparent, 'ice' pink flower Czech glass beads and antique copper findings. I think they are one of the most graceful and loveliest pairs of earrings I have ever seen!

Night in Morocco, Carpet Necklace with Bamboo and Antique Copper

And just when I was preparing myself for more 'Lazing' blog posts, with relaxing photos of the beaches I have been visiting during my holidays, I received an email from Evelyn, of creationsbyeve, that she is currently the host of the EST weekly challenge, and she has picked the theme 'Morocco'.

The idea for a carpet necklace is not new to me; I had made a modern carpet neckace, thinking of Aladdin in the modern times last year. But Eve's theme was a chance for me to develop that idea. Carpets are soft, sensuous, inviting you to walk barefoot on them, they dress your home all year round, they lend incredibly beautiful decoration with their patterns, and on top of that, handmade carpets are one of a kind. So if you can't afford a real handmade, one of a kind, artisan carpet, you might want a carpet necklace!

This necklace is only the beginning... More carpet one of a kinds will come soon in my Etsy shop. Stay tuned...

Amor Vincit Omnia - the Necklace

Virgil (Publius Vergilius Maro) lived and flourished in Rome (70-19 BC) and was a classical Roman poet, one of Rome's greatest. He is most famous for his Aeneid, a twelve book epic describing the founding of Latium by the Trojan hero Aeneas, and two pastoral poems - the Eclogues and Georgics.

'Amor vincit omnia' comes from Eclogue X, line 69. It is one of the most beautiful verses in Latin and in English it translates as 'Love Conquers All'. I made this necklace as an entry for the weekly EST challenge, hosted by ingermaaike, who picked the theme 'Roman Empire'. I wanted to celebrate the beauty of the phrase, and also to present the origin of Amoronia, the name of my jewelry line. So here is Amor Vincit Omnia, the Necklace, by Amoronia on Etsy:

I made the necklace using an antique brass oval setting and faceted Czech glass beads in jet black graduating sizes. I also used brass wire to connect everything. I finished the necklace with a beautiful antique brass chain. Wouldn't you just love wearing this phrase?

Touch & Textures

The current theme of the EST weekly challenge has been very intriguing, to say the least. 'The Sense of Touch & Textures', hosted by Sabine of lamarquisedesanges really had me from the start, as it triggers in me the philosophical questions surrounding perception...

Better stick to my entry, though. Inspired by the texture of the materials themselves, and indulging in the fact that the concentric circles are almost psychedelic, I created this Touch and Textures Necklace, out of retro - vintage buttons and solid copper.

Thank you Sabine, for this very inspiring theme!
